About 5 years ago I visited Kauai and purchased a beautiful wood carving of a little bird. It had wire legs and stood on a nice piece of wood. The bottom was signed by Russell. My home was destroyed by fire in November and that was one of my most cherished pieces. Do you know when i could obtain another piece of his work? It was made of several different woods of different colors. Kind regards, Sally Cairns

Hi my name is Robin and I am an artist living on Kauai. I came across your blog. I use to sell art at the old Waiohai and the art gallery was called ” A thing of beauty”. We had an artist named Russ Graff and he made birds of different woods. Russ has sents passed on. But I believe they still have some of his pieces at Kiaohana. The gallery owner name is Lynn. If you have any other questions, you can call me or e-mail. I have a gallery in Hanapepe in the Koa wood gallery.

I TOO HAVE A MOST PRISED POSESSION – ONE OF RUSS’S SMALL BIRDS – A JUNCO. MY HUSBAND BOUGHT IT FOR ME ONE VALENTINE’S DAY. EACH TIME I LOOK AT IT I AM REMINDED OF OUR WONDERFUL HOLIDAYS IN POIPU AREA WHEN WE WOULD OFTEN SEEING RUSS WORKING IN THE EVENING AT OCEAN FRONT WITH AN UNFINISHED BIRD IN HIS HAND. IT IS NICE TO KNOW HE IS REMEMBERED AND HIS WORK HAS GIVEN SO MANY PEOPLE JOY.
